Description: Convex functions of Legendre type are constructed on arbitrary open convex sets in Banach spaces that satisfy appropriate rotundity and smoothness conditions. A simple direct proof of the existence of "universal" barriers on arbitrary open convex sets in ℝⁿ is given.
